Turn Sequence
- Initiative
- Movement
- Melee
- Implore the crowd
Initiative
Every player rolls 2D6. The highest score will be Caesar for the round. Caesar is the one who decides the order in which actions are taken for the round. He is also the one who signifies the result of an "Implore the crowd".
Movement
When nominated by Caesar, a gladiator moves. A gladiator can rotate 360` but move in a straight line. At the end of his move, he can again rotate 360'.
Heavy | 5"
| Lights | 7"
| Animals | 10"
|
A gladiator pinned in melee can not move, but may rotate on himself if in contact with a single opponent. An unactivated gladiator rotate as soon as he is engaged in melee.
A gladiator can only rotate once per round.
A gladiator can not rotate if he is engaged by more than one oppoenent.
Melee
Caesar decides the order in which combats are resolved. A gladiator can only fight if he is in base contact with another gladiator.
To Hit
- Each gladiator roll 2D6 (Animals rolls 3, Rhinos 1)
- Compare the scores between them (highest together, like Risk).
- Whoever rolls highest inflicts a hit on a 4+ (3+ for animals)
- Gladiators make armor checks or loose a hit point (everyone has 3 to start)
- If a gladiator is reduced to 0 hit points, they may implore the crowd. Animals never implore the crowd.
- Animals are removed immediately when they reach 0 hit points.
Hit Modifiers
Those modifiers apply to ALL dice rolled to hit.
Killed another gladiator (even if saved by the crowd) | +1
| Is the one who moved to contact | +1
| Attack from the side | -1
| Attack from the back | -2
|

| Heavy gladiator | 4+
| Light gladiator | 5+
| Animals (non-rhino) | 6+

Implore the Crowd
The crowd plays a big part on the gladiators. When a gladiator goes down to 0 hit points, he may call upon the crowd. Animals never call on the crowd and always ignore its verdict.
- A gladiator is reduced to 0 hit points during melee. Put the gladiator on its back to indicate that he is out of commission.
- The gladiator makes the Appeal roll.
- If the roll fails, it is assumed that the gladiator was killed and he is removed as a casualty.
- If the roll succeeds, leave the gladiator on the ground.
- He spends one full round doing nothing.
- On the following round when called upon by Caesar, he stands up with 1 hit point. He can then proceed with the rest of his turn normally.
First Appeal | 5+
| Following Appeal | 6+
| The Gladiator killed another | +1
|
With his thumb, Caesar indicates the result of the appeal.
Caesar can override the crowd, but doing so, he can not take part in the initiative phase to become Caesar on the following turn.
