RX-72

Designer's Notes

The RX-72 was a mecha I designed in around 1992 or 93. We used it extensively in our Macross II campaigns. The Giovanni would parry attacks with the shield (which would take the damage instead of the mecha).

The forearm shields also use our house rules for parrying with forearms.

Robotech Background

Tbe RX-72 was designed in the Japanese mecha designs during the late 2010s. The RX-72 was a mass-produce riot control mecha. It was deployed in areas were Zentraedi activity was light and where bandits activity occasional, leaving the heavier destroids to be deployed in areas of heavy enemy activity. Hence the RX-72 never became one of the well-known mecha.

Macross II Background

The RX-72 was designed by the Giovanni Empire as their standard front-line non-transformable mecha. The original RX-72 were built using partially destroyed Marduk Power Armor. Salvaging the core, the Giovanni created a light, multi-purpose battloid they could use in the asteroid belt.

Originally deployed as a non-military battloid used for mining, the UN Spacy did nothing to prevent the development of this battloid. However the Giovanni added the Shield and forearm shields and added the GF-1 and laser swords. The RX-72 quickly became a staple raiding battloid and grew te Giovanni's armies in the belt.
