Greater Valkyrate of New Samarkand
The Giovanni have integrated the Valkyrate's forces into their own. The Prince of New Samarkand is given a lot of autonomy, so long as peace is maintained and that Giovanni law is respected. Butte Hold
Named after the capital of the now-defunct Alliance of Canopus, butte Hold is a sprawling town. It has numerous fields and factories within its 50 square miles area. Butte Hold looks like a medieval town with narrow streets and poorly planned urbanism. The city is surrounded my large stone walls and the inner city is protected by an inner wall. Butte Hold surrounds the princely palace. Within the inner fortress the Giovanni have stationned most of their troops and mecha on the planet. Each gate is protected by RX-75 and Valkyries. The Prince rules over all the planet from his palace but rarely leaves the city. The Prince is not very fond of the Giovanni, but he sees no other way. The occupation has also been extremely profitable to the Valkyrate. The Prince and the Duke of Exeter hate each other with a passion. Each would like to see the other one destroyed. Exeter Exeter is the capital of the Jion Archduchy. The Duke of Exeter still rules the city. Exeter possesses most of the manufacturing facilities of the Valkyrate. The Jion are extremely dedicated and from Japanese or Asian descent heavily mixed with Zentraedi blood. It is customary to wear swords in the streets of Exeter. The Jion are unhappy with the alliance of the Prince with the Giovanni. Many resent House Centralla for this reason. The Duke Char Aznable is currently building a small army of now outdated RX-72 to attack Butte Hold and rid the planet of the Giovanni. Should all else fail, he will resent to more drastic measures and free the planet of Giovanni occupation. Fort Henri Fort Henri houses the spaceport. All ships coming and leaving New Samarkand pass through the space port at Fort Henri. The locals are a group of Marduk from the former Neptune and Uranus colonies that decided to leave Sol. The Fort itself is a large concrete structure. The people of Fort Henri have no real strong opinions about the Giovanni. In fact, the Giovanni have brought in increased traffic through the fort. The Giovanni have stationed a batallion of RX-75 to protect the spaceport. White Rock City White Rock City was built on a large white rock quarry (hence the name) by Tharkadian finding the heat of Italia too warm and discomforting. Most of them consider New Samarkand home. They are extremely dedicated to peace and are well-known scholars. None have joined the army since the founding of the City. White Rock has the only university on New Samarkand. It is opened to all. Though the university does not change fees, the government has instituted a new tax to anyone who attends.
