The First Mechanized Infantry was formed about 40 years ago when the Giovanni began to mass-produce the Locust. They have served on most of te Asteroid Belt conflicts and seen heavy action against the UN Spacy during the Three-Month War.
They remained in the Asteroid Belt during the Fringe War. Where they served as the Giovanni's main force. During the war, they claimed many new asteroids.
After the War, the Logustas received the Locust Mk-II, resulting from the combining of Giovanni and Marduk technology.

The Second Locust is the most despised unit in the Giovanni Army. They are mercenaries permanently contracted to the Giovanni. The destruction of Giovanni-1 forced the Ducce to recall them to Italia.
They were heavily involved in the final year of the Fringe War. They served in the Fuerza Dell Sud.
After the war, the Second was returned to the Solar System and given garrison duty on two mining colonies with old mecha while other units are being refurbished. They only have Locusts and RX-7.

The Third Mecha is the elite mecha pilots of the Giovanni. They are trained in guerilla and jungle fighting with their light battloids. They were formed over ten years ago.
During the Fringe War, the Third base will be destroyed by the Powerians. However, they managed to escape with their mecha and waged a guerilla war on the Marduk.
After the war, the Third gets posted at the Villa Giovanni to keep the rebels of Pumpumhaydan in check. They are also the first to receive the new RX-72 mecha.

The Ferroaguilas was formed just before the war. It included all the Valkyries the Giovanni managed to steal.
During the war, the unit was involved in heavy action late in the war. The Fourth took some of the heaviest losses, mostly to its mecha. It is destined to become a legend on Italia with all its surviving pilots (and many posthumous ones) received the Giovanni Cross (highest military honor). They were considered the pride and joy of the people of Italia.
After the war, the unit is disbanded and its few remaining mecha assigned to other units. Most of the pilots decided to retire from active duty and join civilian life on Italia.

The Fifth Mecha was formed with the Ducce's reorganization before the war. The Fifth Mecha was stationed at Depot and defended it throughout the war. Heavy losses forced the high command to reinforce them and design a new mecha for them, the Conqueror.

History/Notes
The First Frontier Mecha corps was formed of deserters of Giovanni, Sofisti and Marduk origin. They were always desperate for mecha.
During the war, the Frontierian captured enough mecha to double the size of their forces. They engaged in heavy fighting in the Fuerza Dell Sud.
After the war, Marduk officers brought strong discipline and are turning this formerly ragtag unit into a very efficient unit. They focused their attention on taming the Sofisti.
